FIRE DAMAGE IN FACTORY.
SEVERAL OTHER OUTBREAKS.
A fire in the corner of a bathroom, stated to have been caused by a spark from a califont, resulted in the City Fire Brigade receiving a call shortly after 11 o'clock yesterday morning to Glenalvon private hotel in Waterloo Quadrant. On!v slight damage was done to the corner of the bathroom.
The brigade received a call shortly before 8 o'clock List evening, to Victoria Street West where a tarpaulin covering cable belonging to the Auckland Electric Power Board was destroyed. A call to Mr. P. G. Woolfe's cask and vat factory in Gillies Avenue was received by tho Newmarket Fire Brigade shortly before half-past eight on Saturday evening. Though tho brigade covered the intervening three-quarters of a mile and had water playing on the flames within four minutes, the building was well alight when they arrived. The extent of tho damage cannot be gauged until the electric motors used in the works are overhauled. Tho insurances are £IOOO in the Hoval offieo on the building and £BOO in the South British oflieo on tho factory and plant.
