CROSS-COUNTRY CONTEST.
THE AUSTRALIAN TEAMS. NOTABLE PERFORMANCES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN" CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Sunday. The fifth cross-country championship of Australia and New Zealand is to take place at Hutt Park on August 29, and will bo contested by teams representing Victoria, New South Wales and New Zealand. ' Tho Victorian and New South Wales teams are due to arrive in Wellington by the Maunganui from Sydney tomorrow ;norning. Tho New South Wales team comprises the runners who filled tho first six places in tho State championship of five miles held recently at llandwick. The team, with placings in the State championship, is as follows: C. Weekes 1, J. H. Hayden 2. M. J. Mackenzio 5. A. Ginsford 4, B. Swinbourno 5. and R. J. Fitzsimmons 6. Mr. H. J. Taylor is accompanying the team as manager. Hayden won the Now South Wales ten miles cross-country championship in 1914, 1915, 1916 and 1920. He won tho Manly " modified marathon " last, year for tho fifth time since 1913, and lie was also last year's winner of the Victorian full-distance marathon. Fitzsimmons won the New South Wales ten miles championship in 1911 and 1920. The Victorian team comprises W. M. Whyte, Moore, Muir, Bell and Whittle. Whvte is acting as manager. He won tho* Melbourne Harriers' five-mile championship a fortnight ago in 27m. 28s. DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIP. VICTORY FOR OTAGO TEAM. [BY TELEGRAPH.—rRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN. Sunday. The New Zealand cross-country championship teams race resulted: Otago (Brown, Tapp, Cox and Frvo), 14 points, 1; Wellington (Todd, 'Kent, Keats, Dome), 12 points, 2. Tho event was won by Brown, with Tapp second and Todd third.
