INCREASE IN RATES. HIGHER VALUATIONS. [BV TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Saturday, An increase in the rates of 3-32 d in the £ in the Hamilton area, and 11-32 d. in tho £ in the Frankton area lias boon decided by the Hamilton. Borough Council. The current rates havo been fixed as follow: Hamilton area, 4 31-32 d; Claudeland*, 4Jd; Frankton, 5 3-8 d; Moeroa, 213-16 d.
The new rates have been struck on the new valuations, which havo been increased by 20 to 25 per cent. Special rates are higher this year owing to the largo expenditure made on loan works.
