SHIPMENTS OF HONEY.
EXPORT UNDER CONTROL. Under the provisions of tlio Ho any Export Act, 1924, and the subsequent regulations, the collector of customs in Cliristchureh, Air. W. J. WralL, has notified the shipping companies that honey not. bo snipped to the United Kingdom. the Irish Free Stato or to the Continent 'of Europe, unless by permission of tho Minister for Agriculture, and on payment of fees to tho Customs Department. Ko far this season two shipments of honey have been made from Lyttelton. The first was made before the enforcement of the regulations, and the second has just been made under license. It comprised 762 cases (about 90,0001b.), and tho levy under tho Act of 1-16(1 a lb. was responsible for the payment to the department of £23. All levies, although collected by tho Customs Department, are expended in connection with the administration of the control and marketing scheme, which is managed by a special board.
