RECEIPTS FOR WAGES.

A MAGISTRATE'S ADVICE

The desirability of employers of domestic servants keeping proper books was mentioned by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, when delivering judgment in a.claim for £37 wages at 30s a week, •by Mrs. Cecilia Drodie .(Mr. Purser, instructed by Mr. Sullivan), against Mrs. Elizabeth Donnelly (Mr. Short). Claimant had produced the date of her engagement with defendant, said the magistrate, and the defence was that she had been paid all the wages owing to her. Where were the proof and receipts? Defendant had not produced any, and had been unable to state definitely how much' she had paid claimant.

Judgment was entered for claimant with costs.
