THE HOSPITAL BOARD.

SANATORIUM PROPOSAL. MATTER FOR CONSIDERATION. The Auckland Hospital Board met last evening, tlie chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, presiding. There were also present: Mrs. E. A. Kidd, Messrs. J. Dcmpsey, Ci. Knight, W. A. Thompson, M. J. Coylo. W. K. Ho wit t, J. Howe, E. H. Potter, J. McLeod and J. D. Chalmers.

The chairman welcomed Mrs. Kidd as a member of the board. In speaking ot the work to be done, Mr. Wallace refened to the need for accommodation for chronic cases at the Auckland infirmary. There were 20 patients in the main hospital who should not be there, as they wore chronic cases and were taking up the beds of people who were awaiting admission. Another important matter to be dealt with was that of establishing LB. sanatorium in the vicinity of Auckland and this would receivo tho earnest consideration of the board. Tho report of the nurses' examinations wus received. Iho examiners stated t.iat Nurse G. E. Buckton was recommended for the gold modal, and Nurse M. Gott for the prize books. Tho chairman stated tho prizes would bo presented in due course. . A circular on the matter of dental treatments by hospital boards was received From the Health Department. The cir cular stated it was considered that, .some boards were doing unnecessary work for patients. The letter wns referred to the Finance Committee, tho officer in charge of the dental department to report. It was reported that certain parts of tho laundry machinery hud been del:vored. but tho motors attached to each machine were of the wrong type. The position thus created would result in the laundry opened considerably later than was anticipated. Action toward a settlement had been taken.
