CHAIRMAN'S FOURTH TERM.

MR. MACKENZIE RE-ELECTED. BOARD MEMBERS' TRIBUTE, The statutory annual meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday, when Mr. H- R. Mackenzie was re-elected chairman for the fourth term. Mr. T. B. Clay, in nominating Mr. Mackenzie, said members knew the difficulties with which tho board had to contend, but Mr. Mackenzie had piloted the board through in a worthy manner. The board was indebted to him for the time he spent on its business, while his tactfulncss in conducting business and in giving information to members was much appreciated. His affable manner helped to bring about peace and harmony, and he doubted if there was a board of a similar size where thero was such a brotherly feeling, and this was due to the characteristics of the chairman.

Mr. M. H. Wynyard seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. In returning thanks, Mr. Mackenzie said the position of chairman was a proud one to fill, and ho hoped to do his best to carry out the interests of the board, and to work with members for tho future of the port. The assurance of support from members had been responsible in a large measure for his success as chairman. Tho task in the past had been a very pleasant one, and he hoped to do his best in the future for tho port and province of Auckland. : ; . . ; Mr. M. H. Wynyard was elected deputy chairman. The chairman, in proposing tho nomination, said that Mr. Wynyard was a very valuable member, in whom he liad the fullest confidence. The nomination was seconded by Mr. T. Bloodworth. The chairman's honorarium was fixed at £2OO. Members agreed that the honorarium should bo considerably increased, but £2OO was stated by the secretary to be the maximum amount allowed by statute.
