The Henry I.awson Memorial Committee is iutivirig sculptors iu Australia and 1 abroad for the pi"".,: for a design of a statue which it is proposed to erect in the j Domain, Sydney, near the Burns statue. Mr. \\ . IT. Ifould, who is chairman of the ( committee, stales that it is estimated that , the total cost of the memorial will be £2500. Of this, £2500 (most of it contributed by the public school teachers and • pupils of New South Wales) is in handThere is a strong feeling that this memorial to an Australian poet, which is made possible by the generous affection of his fellow-countrymen, should be the work of an Australian.
