AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

A BRiTISH ALLIANCE.

MOVEMENT IN ENGLAND.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —I'RF.SS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Thursday

Tho council of the New Zealand Athletic" Association considered a letter from the English Amateur Athletic Association through the Australian and NewZealand Athletic Union, in which it was suggested that the association was desirous of entering into an alliance with all the Dominion associations. They would be glad to hear the views of tho Amateur Athletic Union of Australia and New Zealand on the subject as it was thought that; the English-speaking people working hand in hand would very greatly benefit amateur athletics, as well as bring eloscr together the representation of the British Empire.

Mr. Havies thought the idea was ail excellent one. The formation of such an alliance would greatly help in the arranging of tours, etc. It was decided to agree with the suggestion on condition that no financial obligations were incurred. Hugh Leonard Mercer, Uunedin, was granted reinstatement from December 13, 1924. L. Winter, Wellington, was reinstated from January 1, 1925.
