TAURANGA AFFAIRS.
RAILWAY WHARF CONTRACT.
[BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT. J TAURANGA. Friday. The successful contractor for the construction of the Railway Wharf at Tauranga, Mr. C. S. Brookes, has already arranged for the transport of his dredging plant from Whakatano to Tauranga. He is now proceeding to the Bay of Islands, and will send additional equipment from Opua to Tauranga as it is his intention to lose no time in commencing the contract. Mr. Brookes recently completed tha erection of a large wharf at Opua, which is used by overseas vessels. The opening of the Methodist Tennis Club's courts took place yesterday, the new courts being in excellent condition. The opening ceremony was performed by ' Mr. F. A. Stevens, president of the TauJ ranga Tennis Club. The new club opens with a strong membership. The Pnblic Works Department has forwarded to the Mount Maunganui Domain Board authority for the expenditure of tho grant of £150 on the Domain. A largo number of trees were recently planted on. this reserve and are doing wdl. /'
