SPRING FASHION NOTES.
A great deal of crochet work is being used just now, and an artistic cachet is given to it by the lovely Venetian guipure designs used for it. It will even be used for putting on spring frocks, and especially on linen dresses, which are being enhanced by lovely Dresden china buttons, or large amber balls— this trimming giving them a very chic look. Tulle trimmings have been out of vogue for some years past, but recently the modistes have been exercising their skill in making up this material into smart cockades of various designs. Tulle scarves are being worn with evening dress, and look very pretty when gracefully draped over the shoulders. It is to be hoped that tulle will become thoroughly popular this season as unquestionably it is particularly becoming. The millinery this season is in harmony with dresses and suits. There is a becoming hat provided for each model. Embroidery of wool flowers on black is much used, and this makes delectable little triangular cashmere scarfs which , have matching embroidery, and very long wool fringe. These scarf shawls are an excellent protection as a cape and have the advantage of being more original They are made vivid by the embroidery which employs the most brilliant colouring, and their background keeps them from being too gay. An interesting hat shown is a " capeline " in black raarocain, embroidered all Over with scarlet poppies and cornflowers.
