POWER FOR SUBURBS.
PROGRESS OF RETICULATION.
EDENDALE MAIN FEEDER
The further reticulation of Mount Eden and Mount Albert for the supply of electric power will occupy a period of fully six months, according to a report presented by 'the engineer, Mr. A. Wyllie, to the Auckland Power Board yesfterday. The report stated that before the end of the month three gangs would be working in an area comprising parts of Epsom, Mount Eden, and Mount Albert and bounded by the Mount Albert Road, which meanwhile would be the limit for work. The area contained four square miles and was mostly solid rock.' Reticulation meant every street and every house and so would probably occupy a little more than six months. The main hieh tension feed would proceed along Edendale Road and its construction would be dependent on the progress made by the Mount Albert Borough Council on a portion of the road.
Mr. E. H. Potter advocated the erection of a temporary line on the Edendale Road where necessary. The cost would not be great. Many houses had recently been erected in this area in which there was no provision for other than electric light. The owners had relied on the promise of the board to supply current and the latter should try to shorten as far as possible the time of waiting. Several members agreed that a temporary line should be erected and it was decided to visit the district. The matter was referred to the Works Committee.
