INTERNATIONAL RUGBY.

ENGLAND BEATS IRELAND. A. and N.Z. bONDON, Feb. 9. In the Rugby international match England defeated Ireland by 14 to 3. The match was played in Belfast, before 16,000 spectators. The ball was very slippery. Ireland continually attacked in the first 20 minutes, then a beautiful movement by the English backs resulted in Corbett scoring an unconverted try. An Irish rush to the English line followed, Douglas darting over. Crawford failed to convert. The half-time score was 3 all. On the resumption the Irishmen pressed heavily, their forwards playing desperately, but they met a sound defence. After a time the Irish attacks were less sustained, and England pressed. After neat handling by the backs, Wickes scored an unconverted try. Then followed a couple of tries by England's threequartsr, Catchside, the first being converted by Conway.
