BOWLING AND TENNIS. fIT TCUKMUPH. —OWN COMESroSBtNTj TAUBANGA. Monday A movement is on foot for the formation of a new bowling and tennis club. A meeting wa? held to consider the matter on Friday night. An option for fwo ! months has been secured over two acres at the corner of Tenth Avenue and Devonport Road, on a fiat below the road. Tho option is for a ton years' lease with a compulsory purchasing clause a? £500. There is sufficient room for a full-sized bowling green, eight tennis courts with" necessary pavilions, etc. It was decided that a combined bowling and tennis club be formed provided that in the opinion of a committee to be set up it oould be satisfactorily financed and that sufficient membership was forthcoming to carry on. Mr. J. B. Beale was elected president of the club. Substantial financial support Jias been promised. The bridge over the Kerikeri Stream on the Ohauiti Road was completed and opened for traffic on Saturday morning. The settlers of Ohauiti have for some time been advocating the construction of this bridge which is an important link in communication between the district and the town of Tauranga.
