NIGHT HARVESTING.

ELECTRIC LIGHT USED. fFROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] SYDNEY, Feb. 5. A well-known wheat farmer of Burrumbuttock, Mr. Bradtke. is the envy of all his neighbours because his harvest is almost completed while theirs is little more than half so. No longer does Mr. Bradtke restrict himself to the time-honoured injunction of " making hay while the sun shines." Instead ho has taken time firmly by the forelock and devised a means of electric lighting, whereby he does his harvesting jn the night-time as well as in the hours of sunshine. Last season he experimented with various devices that he had in mind, and during the present season, he has been enabled to continue his harvesting regularly into the night-time. Having done the fitting himself, the cost of electric lighting equipment on his harvester has amounted to afcept £75.. Ho says that the result has been more than to add so' many hours on to the possible working day. The night hours nave proved much more effective working time than those which fall in the heat of the day, both the horses and men being capable of better work in the cool than under the blazing sun.
