NEW LYNN TOWN BOARD.

WATER MAINS UN NEW ROADS 'fhe New Lynn Town Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. C. F. Gardner, presiding. It was resolved that dedication of a road through Mr. Kirkpatriqk's property bo completed as soon as money for 3in. water mains is paid to the board, and a guarantee to that effect wjps received. The building inspector reported that daring the last fortnight six permits had been granted 'to a value of £2228. % fhere were 14 houses in coarse of erection. It was proposed to rescind a resolution passed in May, 1922, providing that in the rase of all new roads the owners of land must lay water mains fitted with the necessary hydrants to the satisfaction of the board. The opinion > wa3 expressed that as each property owner was contributing to the water reticulation loan it was not fair that he should be called upon to pay for new Joans in addition. Mr. H. Green stated that as the board had already in certain cases compelled property owners to lay water mains, it would be inconsistent to rescind the motion. _ The matter was deferred until a fun meeting of the board. The question whether the board should borrow money from the Government for erection of workers' homes was again discussed, and the matter was referred to the Legal and Finance Committee.
