NGARUAWHIA NOTES.
MILITARY TRAINING CAMP. [BY TTTLEGEAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. J NGAKUAWAHIA, Monday. _The military training camp at Ngarnawahia is now in full swing. Majors Ivory and Soar and Captain ill is are the chief officers. At present the Ist Auckland Battery is in camp about 100 strong. Last week fho 3rd Battery put in some good training and had some firing practice with live shell. The men enjoyed camp-life so much that some of them decided to put in another week. On Tuesday evening the officers and men will be entertained by Che citizens at a social and on Wednesday camp sports will be • held in the afternoon and a camp-fire concert in the evening to both of which the residents have been invited. The borough council is now engaged on the plans of the new town hail for which a loan of £9000 was authorised by the ratepayers. The problem is to build a hall which can be erected and furnished for the amount of the loan. It is calculated that it will take nine months to build the hall. i ~~ The pupils of the local school and their parents wer.i on an enjoyable excursion by steamer to the Narrows on Saturday. About 400 persons were on board.
