POSTPONED LIQUOR POLL.
PROTESTS IN N.S. WALES. A. and N.Z. ,''-, SYDNEY. Dec. 18. In the Legislative Assembly the Monopolies Bill has reached its second reading. Owing to contentions, the Minister agreed to an adjournment of the debate. The Liquor Act Amendment Bill was rend a third time. Several efforts to alter this'date of the referendum failed by a two to one majority. .r Archdeacon Boyce, referring to the Bill, says there is only sadness among prohibitionists over the Bill. The excuse for postponing the referendum until 1928 is a lame one. The Bill issjvorse than worthless; it is pitiable. It refuses to trust the people, with a vote, deprives them of their rights, and is likely to throw prohibition • back several years. He protects strongly against- the Bill being proceeded with further. " - < /
