AUCKLAND'S SPRING SHOW.

GOVERNOR-GENERAL TO OPEN.

The general committee of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association met yesterday, the president, Mr. E. D. McLennan, presiding.

Matters relating to • the forthcoming spring show were discussed. A letter was received from the Governor-General, Lord -Jellicoo, . intimating that he would be glad to officially open the show on December 7.

It was decided to grant space for selling cigarettes and other goods on behalf of the Blind Institute. Mr. F. M. Waters stated that a similar concession was granted by other associations. The amount of £123 had been netted at the Hastings Show for the institute. It was decided to apply to the ValuerGeneral for a reduction in the valuation of the association's property at Otahuhu. The Grounds Committee reported that! the work of erecting 300 horse pens and judging yards had "-bean completed at a cost of £168. Mr. S. Hamlin was authorised to erect the sheep and pig pens. Replies were received" from Onehunga, Taumarunui and Whangarei stating that those centres are prepared to exhibit district courts at the next winter exhibition. The secretary was authorised to visit Taumarunui and explain matters relating to Che preparation of the courts. A letter was received from the secretary of the Education Committee of the last winter exhibition, Mr. F. R. Callaghan returning thanks for assistance received from the association and €he office staff. Mr. Callaghan stated that he would shortly present a report on educational matters to be considered in connection with the next winter exhibition. The following were appointed to repreBent the association - on the joint committee of the winter exhibition :—Messrs. J. P. Kalaugher, W. W. Massey, H. Grierson, M. G. McArthur, O. A. Fancett, A. Brown, S. W. Luxford, & Hamlin, C. W. Spragg and R. Wright.
