PROPOSAL AT HAMILTON.

[BY TELEGBArn. —OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON. Friday.

The question whether competitive designs should* bo called for the proposed new nurses 'home at the Waikato Hospital, involving a probable ultimate expenditure of £60,000, again arose at a meeting of the Hospital Board yesterday. Mr. C'. Johnstone, in commenting on the House and Finance Committee's approval of the plans submitted by the board's consulting architect, said he preferred calling for competitive designs. Mr. A. E. Webb said that he considered ■ that the board should employ a salaried architect, as it had several years of work ahead.

Mr. J. J. ' Ryburn said the medical superintendent had described the plans submitted as most suitable. The discussion was adjourned until a later meeting.
