THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY.

AUCKLAND HEADQUARTERS. A STRIKING BUILDING. The Theosophical Society's new headquarters for Auckland have recently been completed, and the handsome new build-* ing in Upper Queen Street is a structure much in advance of anything the society has hitherto > attempted in New Zealand. The architect, Mr. Henry F. Robinson, has produced a building both solid in constrmlKm and artistic in finish. The materials are, reinforced concrete and brick, with tiled roof, the facade • being finished in white plaster. The frontage to the street shows two storeys, the lower with a massive porch, covering 14 steps, giving access to two large entrance doors, with bevelled glass panels. The. balcony above the porch is carried on ten graceful lonic columns. Round the main entrance are grouped the main hall, which is spacious and well lighted, and measures 52ft. by 37ft;, the book depot, and the inquiry office. The roof and walls of the hall are white, white the floor is of indigo blue composition. With access through a side entrance, the floor below the main hall contains a social room and a lodge room, 48ft. by 22ft., as well as offices. A lower flcjor, contains the strongroom and the shrine room, the latter being in white, with panelled wainscot of kauri and rimu.
