h'' A 'performance of .! A. A. Milne's clever comedy; "Mr; Pirn Passes By," was presented , by an 'amateur cast ' .at Papatoetoe on Wednesday evening. The Town, Halt was ; packed, 600 [people being present. The presentation :of <. the comedy, which ■; was i produced ": under the direction' of '. Dr. 'A. ;B. Jameson, was admirable, r the' 1 audience showing its appreciation; by .; { frequentv applause. -:■ As Olivia Harden", >the'" central ;• figure,; Miss' Constance" Martin-1 deserves special mention, ; : and she, was well backed .> up .by the .'.- supporting members -of the cast. At the end of 'the*laSt i act, rounds of • ap-' | plause and : the presentation* of- floral tributes testified to.. the : general. '■ appreciation- 'of .the' entertainment/' ; The setting of the i play" was .• pi: feature, and the' high standard maintained throughout .reflected [ credit on the producer and all concerned. The municipal band ; played selections out- ! side the ? hall prior to the performance, 1 and 'the Papatoetoe. Orchestral Society furnished a full; \ orchestral under,;'the leadership of Mr. ~ .7. S. Morey.
