PROVISION FOR BATHERS.
ORAKEI BASIN PROPOSAL. SHELLY BEACH BATHS, The provision of dressing .accommodation for bathers on the beach at the Orakei Basin Avas urged upon the City Council by Mr. A. J. Entrican some time ago, and after considering the matter the Parks CormuliUe reported to the council that it had no recommendation to make. Mr. Entrican then urged that as the beach was becoming popular, especially with children, the matter should he attended to, the request thereupon was referred back to the committee. At the meeting of the City Council last evening the committee reported that it had visited the area, and after full consideration reaffirmed its -previous recommendation. 1& was pointed ; out ; that there were ; many other v localities where dressing conveniences were more urgently required. Mr. Entrican objected that he had not had an opportunity of visiting the beach in company with the committee. The matter was therefore again referred back to the committee. '■. -. ':'^-C/-■' • "
Mr. A. Thompson drew attention to the state of the accommodation at the Shelly Beach Baths, and asked that some provision be made to do away with the necessity of bathers undressing • within view of those using- the bath. The Mayor said the council... had no money available out of which it could extend the dressing rooms, but promised that the. Parks Committee would immediately inspect the bath building, with a view to making some temporary provision that would overcome the present objections
