Addressing a public meeting here, Mr. Lloyd George declared: "Until the United States, with its power and moral command in the world, casts its influence into the scale for peace, I despair of the future. Somebody has said . that the Americans are doing their best to forgot the Great War. It ought to be your pride. You entered without a selfish purpose and for a holy idea. I trust that tho United States once more, in its own way, will cast its great might into the scales for peace." Vast crowds gave Mr. Lloyd George an ovation. Ho left on Monday for Chicago, where he will endeavour to preserve incognito. He met Lord Birkenhead at a private dinner at St. Paul, where both were guests of honour.
