TE AROHA CHESS CLUB.
[BT TKLEORAPH.—OWNr CORRESPONDENT.] TB ABOHA. Tuesday. , Tho To Aroha Chess Club terminated its activities for the season at the last weekend. The championship tournament was won by Mr. F. L. Kenrick, who carried through without a logs, Mr. Frank Macdonald .won the handicap tournament, and Mr. Cochrane a second short tournament. Mr. A. Macdonald won the president's trophy, whilo Mr. Brook's trophy went to Mr. Cochrane. The presentation of the trophios was made on Friday evening by the president, Mr. F. L. Kenrick, who * expressed tho club's ..appreciation of tho capable and enthusiastic manner in which the secretary, Mr. A. J. Burrows, carried through tho affairs of tho club. At the conclusion, in the effort to foster and encourage tho game of chess, he also> challenged' Mr. O. K.;; Hamilton, schoolmaster at Wailipu, to instruct six schoolboys in the game and compote against six from the Waihou School. The challenge was accepted.
