WAITOMO COUNCIL'S LETTER.

At 'the last meeting of the ', Waitomw' County Council the clerk, Mr. G. Brown, ; was instructed to .forward the following letter to the Waikato Hospital Board in. connection with the very'large sum'of uncollected foes that the board had decided to write off :* "By direction of my council I am forwarding a copy of a resolution passed at the last meeting of the council, which it is hoped- you will be able to give' effect to " The resolution read:—"' After seeingthe reports relating to fees .outstanding and collectable by flip Waikato Hospital Board, this.council views with alarm the very large sum proposed to be written off in this respect, and on account of the very marked effect- such action must have in determining the levies paid by • the local bodies concerned, urges that the , most drastic steps bo taken, to collect outstanding fees. 1 _ \ '•'■'"' :■■'■/-v'- •;^v;'--;:.^. ; -.' : * ""■.-:■'' '■ '' This letter, with two others of a similar nature, has been, characterised by the Hospital Board as " insulting, unfair, and abusive," terras to which the County Council takes strong objection, claiming that there, was nothing; in the letter to warrant such a description. The Wai- : tomo County Council has to find £2244 for the. Hospital Board, and says that the letter was only a modest request to the board to do what it could in collecting outstanding fees. ■
