PROBATIONER NURSES.
WAITING LIST IN AUCKLAND
REVERSE POSITION IN DUNEDIN.
"This is another" sign of the times," remarked the chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, at the meeting of tho Hospital Board last evening, when a letter was ; received from the Otago Hospital Board stating that it was experiencing a shortage of probationer nurses, and suggesting that the service ho made more attractive. "More people are*. coming to live in 'Auckland/' said Mr. Wallace. "Wo have the best hospital and the best training,facilities. We have 16 applications to-night for positions as probationers, and. this -makes 70 names on the waiting list, while the applications come from all over the Dominion. Dunedin has the University there, and we have nothing in Auckland, yet they do not know how to got enough nurses." Mr. Wallace added that there were 478 beds in the Auckland Hospital and 250 at Dunedin. •
