ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The New Zealand Baptist Union .Conference sittings - /were;, continued to-day. The election of officers resulted; —President, Mr., H. M. Smeeton, Auckland; vice-president, Mr. T. E. Toneycliffe; secretary and treasurer, Rev. M. W. P. Lascelles*; convenor of the Boards of Introduction and Advice, Rev. 11. Knowles Kempton; editor New Zealand Baptist, Rev. J. J.,North; union preacher, Rev. F. E. Harry. Finance, sustentation fund, annuity fund, and union executive committees were elected. .
It. was''resolved that a reversion be made to the method of electing the president of the union by secret nomination and secret ballot. .
Speaking on the subject, " Are We Neglecting : Our Young People," the Rev. It, J. B. Smith emphasised the point that more efficient Sunday-school teaching was required in order ito prevent present leakages. Teaching in -Sundayschools, he urged, should bo as efficient as in day schools.
