PAYMENT OF CHAIRMAN.

OKOROIRE CONNECTION.

(BX TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT TE AROHA, Tuesday.

The Thames alley Power Board 1 met at To Aroha to-day, Mr. F. H. Claxton presiding.

The payment of £250 per annum as a remuneration to the chairman was authorised in a letter from the Minister for

Public Works. Fifteen settlers of Okoroire petitioned the board to expedite the supply of power for that district. It was stated that Okoroire roads were now in good order for the transportation of plant. The engineer said the delay was occasioned through the short ago of poles of the required length, but the work would bo carried out aa soon as possible. Mr. E. J. Darby, president of the Tuketuima Development League, wrote asking tho probable date of the canvass of that district in connection with reticulation from Arapuni. ,The matter was deferred until the board procured farther information.

The secretary of the Cambridge Power Board made application for tho instalment agreed upon between the two boards in connection with tho transfer of the Karapiro territory to tho ' Cambridge Board's district. The manager said tho necessary Order-in-Council had yet to be made. The board agreed to pay when the required authority came to hand. ' Tho following recommendations made by a committee of the board were adopted:—(l) " That time switches bo installed at the cost of owners on all motors of 15 h.p. Bind upwards, other than those of dairy companies in outside areas; and (2) that farmers who are not using mjlking motors #hall be charged for lighting and heating 50 per cent over and above the present lighting and heating, flat rr.to charges." Complaint was made of persons wilfully damaging insulators on the Paeroa-Wai-kino line. It was stated that boys with pea rifles wore using insulators as targets. It wits decided to offer £10 reward for information leading to tho' conviction of offenders.
