TREATMENT IN HOSPITAL.

At the inquest on, Daniel MacNeven, who cut his throat in the hospital -on Sunday, the medical superintendent stated there was not sufficient accommodation for the treatment of patients suffering from incipient or border mental trouble, or for the temporary observation of mental cases. Although stringent instructions were issued in regard to such cases, it was impossible to secure supervision, except in a properly designed ward. ' The coroner, in returning a verdict of -suicide following extreme mental depression, stated that the care and attention required could not be given in euch cases in a general hospital.
