Flesher r, stated that Christchurch had by-laws re' : & quiring pedestrians to keep to the left I * but it was one of the biggest' nuisances • -,' with which the council had to deal. In Wellington tha I by-law required people to keep to ths left as was the case in Christchurch. Ha thought there should be uniformity of by-ri;; laws relating to the subject and Auckland was inclined to come in with Christchurch and Wellington. Mr. H. L. One prominent citizen had lost his */! life throuch stepping off the footpath in. 'di the direction in which he had happened 0 to be proceeding on the footpath.
