WOOL MARKETING CONTROL

NEW SCHEME OUTLINED. UNIFORMITY IN CLASSING. ; [3T TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. Mr. J. Grimsdale Anderson, of Pelorus Sound, submitted to the Dominion executive of the Farmers' "Union to-night an outline of a scheme for a wool marketing control board for the whole Dominion. The proposals allow of a wool board of not less than five members to be elected by the Farmers' Union, Sheepowners' Association, or the whole body of sheepowners. The board should engage a number of the best experts in the British wool trade to act as selling agents in Britain and to fix a minimum price for each quality, such price to be the minimum parity for the corresponding Dominion sales. The board should appoint its own wool-classera in the Dominion, owners of large flocks being allowed th<> option of having their clips classified on the station by classers authorised by the board. All smaller clips should be classed at the broker's store, each broker to have a subsidiary wool pool for his own clients. The expenses of the board, salaries, etc., would be financed by a small poundage rate on all wool sold, the grower only paying for actual handling and classing.* After discussion, the "outline of the scheme was moved as a remit to the coming Dominion Conference.
