KARANGAHAPE RD. INCIDENT. SOME DAMAGE TO SHOPS. . k : • ' A large motor-van belonging to R. and ■ W. Hellaby, Ltd./ran'away in \ Karangft* ■ hapo Road yesterday morning and-caused .- considerable damage. The van bad boon ■•;.,'; left standing with tho engine .running at the corner of Karangahapfo Road and i , Howe Street. By some rae&nß. the brakes became released and the vehicle, left to t its own devices, soon attained considerable , , momentum. S Travelling > partly on -Hhe>;:,,y. roadway and partly on the footpath, it knocked down a number of verandah posts, until finally it turned;: and ran into a tea. : shop, smashing the window and fittings . ' before coming to a standstill. Fortunately no ono was injured. . •■*'
