PLUNKET SOCIETY'S WORK.

■ ;'; HAMILTON. Tuesday. ': .The annual meeting of the Hamilton Plunket Society was held this afternoon. The Mayor, Mr. J. It. Fow, presided. It was reported that the society was in a sound financial position, and that good work ' had been done during the year. The society resolved to discontinue two sub-branches and to open a new branch at Frankton. The following officers were elected:—President, ; Mrs. .-'.; Greehslade; vice-president, Mesdames Melville Bell, V. Chittv, H. A. Young, C. Holloway; hon. secretary, Mrs. Cov.-lcs; treasurer, ■ Mrs. Vickery; committee, Mesdames Hume J. A Young, Mitchell, Tompkins. Fowler, Stewart, Fow, Hughson, Graham, Bisley, Bullock, Hay, Stace\ Valder, McNicol, Sanford, Green; advisory board, Messrs. Melville Bell, J. A. -'Young,'Farrer, Reynolds, Burley, and Dr. Spencer delegates to the conference, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Young and Mrs. Melville Bell. <. . -._ The following are the vital statistics for Hamiton for Apri, the figures for the corresponding month last year being given in parenthesis :—Births, 40 (54); deaths, 15 (13); marriages, 22 (21). "-. ■ ; . The rainfall for April m Hamilton was 7 Olin. Rain fell on 10 days, the maximum fall being 5.12 in., on the 20th.
