THE CANADIAN CONSTRUCTOR. The Canadian Government steamer Canadian Constructor, en route from Halifax, •via Australian and Southern ports, is ex- j pected to leavp Wellington tonight for i Napier • and Auckland. The vessel is due at Auckland about Saturday. After discharging about 200 tons of cargo and 'loading a quantity of general cargo at this port the vessel will be despatched next Tuesday for New York, Boston, and Halifax. THE KUROW. ' The Kurow arrived from southern ports at mid-day yesterday and anchored iin tne stream until the evening, when the Waimana vacated a berth at the Central Wharf. The Kurow arrived at Napier on Saturday morning and ha-d great difficulty in lying alongside the wharf, owing .to the heavy swell. Working cargo under those, conditions was difficult, and. slow, especially as at times the mooring lines would break and cargo work had to be suspended until the vessel was "-emoored. As cargro work was riot completed at ay late hour it was first decided that the -steamer should anchor in the roadstead until Monday. It was eventually decided to send the vessel to Auckland with the remainder of the , Napier cargo .'and she sailed at 1 _ a.m. on. Sunday. NAM. , The Chung- Navigation Company's steamer Ling Nam,, from Hongkong, -via Melbourne, was due at Wellington yester- .- day. She is now due at Auckland to-morrow night. THE R.M.S; MAETJEA. The Union Company has received advice that the Royal '' Mail steamer Makura cleared Vancouver at midnight on Friday for Honolulu. The ■ Hain steamer Tremere arrived from 3New York shortly before mid-day yesterday and berthed later at the King's Wharf. The vessel cleared New York ion March 27 and experienced fine weather- until about . two days from Auckland when the wind blew strongly from the south-west, acoom-) panied by rough seas. ' Otherwise .the voyage was -uneventful.' The Tremere .has a full cargo of general merchandise and case : oil; about 2400 tons will be discharged at Auckland and , the. remainder at Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. Two outstanding : examples of long-distance ocean towage are reported by the Bureau Wijsmuller, tug owners of Rotterdam. The tug Groningen, belonging to this firm, recently towed three lighters which were laden : with sections of four other similar crafts from Rotterdam to Soerabaya (Dutch East Indies) in 96 days, covering about.9ooo miles. She' then returned to Nantes, via Sabang, and there picked up the sailing vesel Omaha, which she towed to Wilhelmshaven in ten days. She reached Rotterdam on October 1 last and went into.. dry dock for _ Overhaul. Fourteen days later she sailed again for tho East Indies with ; two tugboats, .Jules and Teddy in tow.
