Oakes, Acting Premier, had given them a . hint to stop, but they required more than a hint before they would stop. Father O'Flanagan scouts the cabled Teport of the Republican peace move, and suggests that the message was " cooked " en route. The ' Attorney-General, Mr. Bavin, ■ re- /;"• ferring to s the envoys' collection said that the Government would carry out the proclamation to the letter.
