THE SHOOTING SEASON.
OPENING THIS MORNING.
GOOD SPORT ANTICIPATED.
. The shooting season in the Auckland district will open at six o'clock this morning. The imported and native game open to be killed are cock pheasants, grey duck, spoonbill duck, brown teal, black swan, and Californian and Australian quail. The number of native game that may ,be killed by any lone person in any one day is restricted to 25 birds. . ' ■ Several parties left Auckland yesterday to take part in the first day's shooting of the new season, and good sport is anticipated. j : • The season extends to June 30 for native game, and July 31 for imported game. - V PROSPECTS IN NORTH. GOOD SEASON EXPECTED. ' [b* TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI. Monday. At the annual meeting of the Whangarei Acclimatisation. Society on Saturday evening, Mr. J. S. Lawrio was re-elected president and , Mr. H. . Armstrong vicepresident. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £166. The president remarked that the prospects for the coming season appeared to be exceedingly bright, as birds were reported to be very plentiful.
