FRUIT AND FLOWERS.
DISPLAY AT TAURANGA. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAUKANGA. Monday. The Tauranga Beautifying and Horticultural Society's, Autumn Show held in the Opera House was well attended. The • weather of late has been very unfavourable • for flowers, but nevertheless there was a _ comprehensive display of blooms, which was supplemented by a good show of fruit and a fair collection of vegetables. Chrysanthemums were a special feature, Mr. R. R. Handle being the chief exhibitor in this section. His collection was a splendid one and comprised 25 varieties raised from stock purchased in various pa'rts of the Dominion. Mr. F. B!omquist exhibited an exceptionally fine chrysanthemum, which was awarded tie hist prize for the largest chrysanthemum in the show. Messrs. D. Bay and Son, of Auckland, exhibited a splendid collection of dahlias. There was a good display -of fruit, the principal exhibitors being Messrs. T. Parkinson and J. L. Blomquist. , - The former showed no less than 23 varieties of pears, apples, oranges, lemons, and other fruits. Mr. Mayfield had on exhibition a splendid collection of apples covering many varieties of the highest quality packed ready for export. In tho vegetable section, Mr. J. LBlomquist exhibited potatoes of good quality and was awarded the first prize for his collection.
