SCOTTISH EMIGRANTS.
5000 IN ONE WEEK.END.
EXODUS FROM HEBRIDES.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Heed. 3.55 p.m.) LONDON, April 22.
Five thousand emiganta left Scotland this week-end, including 300 from the Hebrides, the largest party from the islands since the clearances 70 years ago. A few are young women and older folk, and the rest axe sturdy men. The failure of th© fishing industry and the inability of the crofters to gain a living from their land, are reasons for the departures.
