; A woman .named ■ Jean Ferguson Baxter was admitted to the hospital at",halfpast eight o'clock yesterday morning in a semi-conscious condition and >,'. suffering from injuries , supposed *. to have A been caused ; as ; the result of . falling '', from {one of the- upper windows of the Esplanade Hotel at Devonport earlier in the morning- • Little is so far known of the affair, -but it is stated that i the victim *of the accident booked a room at;the? hotel on { the previous evening, and was accommodated on. the I second ', floor. ' At 5.40 a.m. " yesterday the licensee of the hotel heard a noise <on ' the ? verandah/'overlooking f the Parade, followed by the sound of ;a: fall, and on investigating he found ;the; woman lying 'i on the footpath outside \ the hotel in'' a ; semi-conscious .condition.' :,'. -;
* The woman was removed to the Auckland .-.Hospital, ; and , it was 1 reported : last evening {that ; her condition was serious. Her injuries: had 4 not I at; that ..time}. 1 been diagnosed, but it was thought ; that r they were { internal. ■<■' It i. is stated that '7 she is a; : married woman about 29 years /of \ age.'
