Fine weather was experienced on the voyage until laat Wednesday morning, when the wind blew strongly from the eastward accompanied by a rough sea and very heavy rain squalls. ' : • *■: FIONA'S STORMY TRIP. .-; ' The Colonial Sugar Company's steamer Fiona arrived from Port Kembla last evening and anchored in the stream for medical inspection. This morning she will berth at Chelsea to discharge her cargo of coal. The Fiona experienced a very stormy trip from Port Kembla, and was - eight days reaching Auokland instead of the usual five days. She cleared Port Kembla on April 12 and experienced strong easterly winds and rough seas almost as soon as she left port. The adverse weather delayed the vessel's progress and it was six days before she reached the Three Kings. Nearing the New Zealand coast the stormy conditions became worse and when the Fiona arrived off Cape Maria Van Dieman at midnight on Wednesday the wind, was blowing a hard easterly gale in fierce squalls accompanied by torrential rain. There was a heavy sea running ■• and the Fiona at times could only make about three knots against the storm. The vessel did not have a full cargo and thus, being fairly buoyant, did not ship very heavy water on deck and no damage was done. Nearing the Haurak Gulf the .weather moderated considerably .and better progress was made to port.
