The immediate withdrawal of teachers after having been appointed to schools was condemned by the Canterbury Education Board to-day, which took steps to insure the stoppage of the practice. .'••;' A letter was received ■. from the Taranaki Board with reference to the matter. The Appointments Committee concurred with the Taranaki Board that some action should be taken. It was also agreed to inform the Education Department that the board proposed to take steps in order to minimise the great inconvenience now being experienced owing, to numerous withdrawals. In support of the decision, Mr. T. Hughes read a list of men and women who had offended in the way mentioned.
