WATERFRONT LABOUR.
THE WELLINGTON SCHEME.
Tlie new scheme of employing labour on the waterfront was the subject of a discussion between a committee of the Wellington Harbour Board and officials of the Waterside Workers' Union this week. lThe system has been devised so as to provide for a more equitable distribution of the work, at the same time carrying out operations in the most expeditious manner possible. The Harbour Board has in operation a scheme of labour employment similar in some respects to that which has been adopted as the result of the conferences between the Watersiders' Union representatives and the employers of other waterside labour. It is understood that one of the requests made by the union was for representation on the committee in charge of (Waterside work. The meeting was held in private, and neither side had anything to say for publication.
