ONE TREE HILL ROAD BOARD.
The One Tree Hill Road Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. R. G. Clark, presiding. There w«re also present Messrs. T. H. Rowe. C. L. Mcintosh, 0. Purchas, H. K. Clayton, and J. Paterson. The engineer. Mr., John Dawson, reported that ho was still dissatisfied with the progress of 4 tbe Manukau Road pavinz contract. The Tramways Department had nearly completed its part of the road on,the eastern Bide, and no doubt would require to make a start on the track on the western side in the near future. That would block all traffic on the road, unless the board's contractor made an almost superhuman effort. The completion of the excavation by the tram barn had been hampered by the presence of the tramways department's high tension cable, which would have to be lowered. It was also reported that Manukau Road had been repaired in the worst places. A circle had been kerbed in Market Road behind the Campbell statue, and filled with soil and manure, preparatory to planting suitable flowers. The work of grading,; scarifying, and metalling Great South Roadwns under way. Several communications were received with" referejioe to.the One Tree Hi 1 J war memorial. It was decided to ask correspondents to address, all communications to "Mr. H. B. Dobbie, the originator of the movement, as the board did not have the matter in hand.
