THE NAPIER CONTEST.
MR. VIGOR BROWN FOR REFORM. (BX / TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Monday.
It was definitely announced to-day that the Reform candidate for the Napier seat will bo Mr. J. Vigor Brown, the sitting member. Mr. Brown entered Parliament as a supporter of the Ward Government, but on the retirement of Sir Joseph Ward from the leadership of the Liberal Party he announced in an interview in the press and a subsequent speech in the House that he would not, under any circumstances, follow the leadersh-'p of Mr. Wttford. Since that time, now about two years ago, Mr. Brown has been a consistent supporter of the Government. Now he will go to the constituency as the official candidate of the Reform Party.
