EXISTENCE IN ABYSSINIA.

At a meeting of the League of Nation's sub-commission on slavery Sir Arthur Steel Maitland referred to alleged slavery in Abyssinia, He said he considered an inquiry necessary, and proposed two resolutions, ono inviting the Council of tho I/eague to inquire in order to report to the next Assembly, the other that the 1 . whole question of slavery in, Africa be ! investigated, with tho assistance of the most competent administrators. The British delegate pointed out that difficulty was likely to arise if Abyssinia, I which was not a member of tho League, refused to allow investigation. It was eventually decided, to collate information on the subject and settle the precise method of dealing with it at tho next meeting of the sub-committee.
