Heavy and continuous rain with a high. wind has prevailed for the Isat two days in the Whangarei district, in unwelcome contrast to the balmy sunshine of the earlier part of the week. A rainfall of 3.38 in. was during the 24 hours up to nine o'c.ock this morning. The creeks and rivers are heavily swollen, but there has been no flooding to any serious extent.
