The result leaves the second grade championship vet to be decided. The seven-a-side tournament for senior clubs created great excitement by the variety and sparjvlo of tho play and players Grammar, College Rifles and Grafton were eliminated, after the tirst round, Uni«2rsity A defeating Grammar in the sen.»final, leaving University A, North Shore. Ponsonby, Marist Old Boys, and Eden to contest the remaining semi-finals and finaU on a date to be arranged. The principal attraction was the maß'li between Auckland Grammar School and Hamilton High School in the Moa.scar Cup competition. The match was played on No. 1 ground, and resulted in a win for Grammar by 14 points to 0. Both teams were well represented, but Grammar yas unfortunate in being without, tho services of MeCrystal, who had been injured in a previous match. The game was keenly contested, both teams playing with delightful zest and vigour and with a fine sporting spirit. Play from the kick off was fast, open and attractive, the finest phases of Rugbv being exemplified by both teams. On the run of the play Grammar was distinctly the superior scoring side, the pace ot the backs and the finesse of the attack penetrating Hamilton's defence. The visiting team, by splendid forward foot-rushes, frequently got into an attacking position, but the backs lacked combination and finish. Sharing the honours of the nippy j Grammar passing Hamilton won great, distinction for superb stopping, the visitors going down in daring style to stem the Grammar rushes.

Grammar cam' again and a mark by Monteith forced Hamilton. From the drop out Monteith appeared to get over, but, Hamilton was awarded a force. The match between Grafton and Ellerelie for tho second tirade championship was played on No. 2 ground, resulting in a. win for Ellerslie by 12 points to 8. Grafton swept into the attack from the kick off, and a fast forward rush threatened danger, but Ellerslie stemmed the attack. Hard forward play in mid-field was followed bv an Ellerslie rush, Grafton forcing in defence. At the change over Ellerslie attacked with a loowe rush ending in Brisbane scoring the opening try near tho corner.
