WAIMAUKU NEWS.
An impressive service was held in St. Martin's Memorial Church on Sunday, on the occasion of the dedication of a lectern in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Foster, also of a pair of brass altar vases in memon of Miss Marks. The vicar, the Rev. *A. V. Venables, made touching allusion to the love and esteem in which the late Mr. and Mrs. Foster ■were held.
A public meeting was held at Coronation Hal] to consider the nomination of a candidate for a seat on the Waitemata County Council. Mr. Theo. Kerr Taylor was selected to contest the Kumeu Hiding. A Waimauku Progressive League wa s formed, Mr. Bartlctt being elected president and Mr. (3. Temple fcecretary. The Waitemata Dairy Factory's staff is preparing for a busy time. The surrounding country points to every prospect of a record season, as far as dairying i s concerned. Land that lias been neglected for years is under cultivation, fmd large area's of ploughed land are to be sen in all directions. The potato crops, on the high land, look particularly promising, and in spite of the heavy frosts List month, should verv soon be on the imrket.
