LAST STAGS REACHED, THE NEWMARKET SECTION. ACCEPTANCE OF TENDfiE. Practically the last stage in the con- t'' creting of the main thoroughfare between the city and Onehunga has been reached by the acceptance of a tender by the Newmarket ■ Borough Council for ita - portion of the work. Four tenders were received, and that of Messrs. H. Bray and Co. at £4149, bemg the lowest, has been accepted. The contract is for pa*.' • ing in concrete of the at pnesont tmpaved portions of Manukau Road, be. tween the Parnell boundary at the Jubilee Institute for the Blind and the Epsom boundary. Work on a short section of Remuera Road is also included in the contract.
Th 6 Newmarket Council's work in Manukau Road will link up the concrete pavement already carried outf- through Parnell by the City Council and tie Epsom portion, which is now being done by the same body. Similar work is being carried out in Manukau Road by the One Tree Hill Road Board, while the Onehunga portion is practically finishedThe Mount Roskill portion of" the work already has been completed. The Newmarket work, which will take about two months to complete, will be commenced about the end of this month.
